To transfer photos, you need to use the USB cable that comes included with the camera and connect it directly to the computer.
Steps to transfer photos
- Prepare the camera: Make sure the camera is turned off.
- Connect the USB cable:
- Plug the smaller end of the cable (Micro-USB or USB-C) into the camera's charging port.
- Plug the other end (standard USB) into a free USB port on your computer.
- Turn on the camera (if necessary): On some models, the camera must be turned on for the computer to recognize it as a storage device. Other models activate automatically once connected.
- Access the photos from the computer:
- On Windows: Open "File Explorer". In "This PC," you will see a new removable device with the camera's name or a drive letter (e.g., "Removable Disk (E:)").
- On macOS: A new icon will appear on the desktop or in the sidebar of the "Finder".
- Copy the photos: Open the camera's drive and look for the folder where photos are saved (it's usually called "DCIM" or "Photos"). Select the photos you want, copy them (
Ctrl+C/Cmd+C), and paste them (Ctrl+V/Cmd+V) into a folder on your computer.
Frequent troubleshooting
- Computer does not recognize the camera:
- Try another USB port on the computer.
- Restart the camera and reconnect it.
- Check that the cable is properly connected at both ends.
- If using a USB hub or extension, connect the cable directly to a port on the computer.
- You need the removable memory card:
- If the camera uses a removable microSD card (like the SaveFamilyPrint), you can also carefully remove it, insert it into a card reader connected to the computer, and copy the photos from there.
Tips for a smooth process
- Make sure the camera has sufficient battery during the transfer.
- Do not use the camera or turn off the computer while copying the files.
- Once transferred, you can format the card from the camera's menu to free up space, making sure you have saved all the photos beforehand.
